Rosanne Philippens is an extraordinary communicator, with an innate musicality and an infectiously joyful yet sincere approach to music-making. She is in high demand across the Netherlands where she performs regularly in the major halls and series both as soloist and chamber musician. She is also a keen play/director and recently made her debut with the Orchestre National de Lyon leading the orchestra in a hugely successful performance of The Seasons by Vivaldi and Piazzolla in Lyon’s Auditorium receiving the highest praise from players and management. Philippens’s playing is refined, exuberant and profound, and was described by the Dutch daily paper De Telegraaf as “energetic, sensitive and flawless.”

Recent highlights include performances with the Rotterdam Philharmonic at De Doelen, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic in the prestigious Zaterdag Matinee series and the Residentie Orkest both in The Hague and at the Concertgebouw Hall, Amsterdam. Elsewhere Philippens has played with the Barcelona Symphony, Ulster Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony and with orchestras across Germany, Finland and Switzerland, with conductors including Nézet-Séguin, Foster, Tausk, de Vriend, Hermus and Collon.

In recital and chamber music, Philippens plays regularly with artists such as István Vardai, Vilde Frang, Julien Quentin, Vikingúr Olafsson, Amihai Grosz, Camille Thomas and Zoltán Fejérvári in festivals and halls across Europe. A strong believer in breaking down barriers in classical music, she runs her own concert series ‘The Amsterdam Salon Pop-Up’, presenting high-quality concerts in carefully sought-out and unusual locations in an intimate salon atmosphere.

Philippens records exclusively for Channel Classics and all her recordings have received glowing praise. Her latest CD 'Insight' represents the culmination of a very special and personal journey for Philippens; the choice of works by Bach, Enescu and Biber and the order in which they were recorded was inspired directly by the feedback gathered from audience members during a solo European tour. The Strad has described the CD as being “both softly spoken and intensely powerful” and Philippens as a “dazzling performer”. Earlier albums include 'Dedications', featuring works by Kreisler, Fauré and Ysaye, and a recording of Prokofiev’s 2nd Concerto, described by BBC Magazine as “a triumph”.

Philippens was taught from an early age by Anneke Schilt at the Amstelveen music school. She continued her studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and the Hanns Eisler Academy in Berlin with Coosje Wijzenbeek, Vera Beths, Anner Bylsma and Ulf Wallin, receiving the highest distinction from both institutes. Philippens won first prize at the Dutch National Violin Competition in 2009 and the Freiburg International Violin Competition in 2014.

Die 1986 in Amsterdam geborene Rosanne Philippens begann mit drei Jahren das Geigenspiel und folgt ihrer Leidenschaft so konsequent und kommunikativ, dass ihre Hörer sofort mitgerissen werden.

Vielleicht entfaltet sich die Begeisterung aber auch wegen Rosanne Philippens‘ besonderer Mischung von perfekter Technik –ihr Studium am RoyalConservatory of The Hague schloss sie 2009 summa cum laude ab – großer Offenheit und stetem Streben sich weiterzuentwickeln: So zog die Geigerin im Anschluss ans holländische Studium weiter nach Berlin und erlangte 2014 an der Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler den Master ebenfalls mit höchsten Auszeichnungen und gewann den Nationaal Vioolconcours im Amsterdamer Concertgebouw 2009 sowie den internationalen Violinwettbewerb Freiburg 2014.

Sie arbeitete mit Dirigenten wie Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Lawrence Foster, Michel Tabachnik und Xian Zhang und spielte als Solistin u. a. mit dem Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmoniker, dem Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, dem Philharmonischen Orchester Freiburg.

In der Saison 2017/18 tritt sie bei Konzerten und Tourneen, dem Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, dem Orchestra International de Genève, der Amsterdam Sinfonietta, dem Symphonieorchester St. Gallen auf; zudem ist sie zum Midsummer Music Festival in Reykjavik nach Island und zum Voice of Music Festival nach Israel und zum ID-Festival nach Berlin eingeladen.

Immer an Austausch interessiert, ist Rosanne Philippens kammermusikalisch sehr aktiv, mit Musikern wie Guy Braunstein, Janine Jansen, Torleif Thedéen, Amihai Grosz, Julien Quentin, Itamar Golan, Vilde Frang und Nicolas Altstaedt auf Festivals in Deutschland, der Schweiz, Schweden, Israel und England.

Die Niederländerin spielt auf Empfehlung von Janine Jansen die Barrere-Stradivari (1727) dank der grosszügigen Förderung der Elise Mathilde Foundation mit einem Bogen von Francois Tourte. Förderer sind für Rosanne auch ihre Lehrer, wie Anneke Schilt, Coosje Wijzenbeek, Vera Beths und Ulf Wallin, mit denen sie sich auch weiterhin austauscht.

Kommunikation prägt auch die Konzepte von Rosanne Philippens Einspielungen: Im Herbst 2017 ist bei Channel Classics mit Prokofjews Zweitem Violinkonzert, der Solo Sonate und Five Melodies ihre vierte Einspielung erscheinen. Nach Dedications (2016), einem Album in dem sie ausgehend von Ysaÿe die Widmungen von Komponisten für andere Tondichter wie Fauré, Kreisler und Saint-Saëns verfolgte, Myth (2015) mit Werken von Szymanowski und Strawinsky und Rhapsody (2013), in der sie den Dialog zwischen Ravel und Bartók eröffnet hat.

Rosanne Philippens is een veelgevraagd soliste in zalen als het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, de Philharmonie in Berlijn en het Auditorium in Lyon.
Recente hoogtepunten zijn meerdere play&direct projecten met het Orchestre National de Lyon en een samenwerking met het Barcelona Symphony Orchestra in het prachtige Palau de Musica Catalana. Verder werkte ze solistisch met dirigenten als Yannick Nézet Séguin en Jan-Willem de Vriend en orkesten als het Rotterdams Philharmonisch, the Ulster Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony en vele andere internationaal gerenommeerde orkesten.

In september 2021 komt haar nieuwe album uit bij het label Channel Classics met vioolconcerten van Haydn en Stravinsky met een eigen samengesteld Nederlands kamerorkest, genaamd de Vondel Strings.

Rosanne had inspirerende leraren waaronder Coosje Wijzenbeek, Vera Beths en Anner Bijlsma. Ze won 1e prijzen op het Oskar Back Concours en bij het Freiburg International Wettbewerb. 

Rosanne is een gepassioneerd kamermusicus. Memorabele samenwerkingen had ze met Mischa Maisky, Vikingur Olafsson, Amihai Grosz, Alexander Chauscian, Nicolas Altstaedt en Vilde Frang.

Rosanne Philippens, née à Amsterdam en 1986, commence à jouer du violon à l’âge de trois ans. Aux côtés d’une mère pianiste, une soeur violoniste jazz et un père grand fan de musique classique, elle baigne dans la musique dès son plus jeune âge.

Aujourd’hui, Rosanne se produit en soliste dans le monde entier avec des orchestres renommés. Elle a à présent échangé le violon 1/16 sur lequel elle jouait à l’âge de trois ans pour un Stradivarius de 1727 surnommé « barrere ». Ce violon est mis à sa disposition par la fondation Elise Mathilde Fonds.

Comme soliste, Rosanne voyage dans le monde entier. Son agenda comprend pour la saison prochaine des tournées et des concerts entre autres avec l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Rotterdam, l’Orchestre de chambre du Concertgebouw, l’Orchestre symphonique de Vancouver, l’Orchestre de la Résidence, la West-Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, l’Orchestre de St Gallen et l’Orchestre Philharmonique des Pays-Bas.

Rosanne combine volontiers ces grands concerts avec ses propres projets plus intimistes. Elle possède par exemple sa propre série de concert à Amsterdam, intitulée The Amsterdam Salon, où elle fait connaître la musique classique à un nouveau public – projet auquel elle tient beaucoup. Dans un lieu inhabituel, la brasserie Oedipus, l’atmosphère d’un salon est recréée. Avec ses musiciens favoris, Rosanne y présente et commente largement les programmes qu’elle concocte.

Rosanne voyage durant toute l’année, rayonne à partir de Berlin où elle a élu domicile, et se produit également dans des festivals de musique de chambre dans des pays comme la Suède, la Suisse, l’Allemagne et Israël, afin de jouer avec des collègues renommés tels que Nicolas Altstaedt, Guy Braunstein, Vilde Frang, Andreas Ottensamer, Lawrence Power, etc.

Fin septembre 2017, son quatrième disque compact paraît chez Channel Classics, avec des oeuvres du compositeur russe Serge Prokofiev. Il succède à Dedications (2016) - un album qui fait entendre, en partant d’Ysaÿe, des oeuvres que des compositeurs comme Fauré, Kreisler et Saint-Saëns se sont dédiés mutuellement - et Myth (2015), un disque consacré au compositeur polonais Szymanowski. Le premier CD qu’elle grave pour ce label, Rhapsody, comprend des oeuvres de Bartók et Ravel fortement influencées par la musique populaire.

De 11 ans à 18 ans, Rosanne est dans la classe Jeune Talent de Coosje Wijzenbeek. Cette dernière permet à ses élèves de se produire en public dès leur plus jeune âge et les fait jouer entre eux. Rosanne développe ainsi très tôt son goût pour la musique de chambre. Elle effectue ensuite un cursus de bachelor auprès de Vera Beths avec laquelle elle étudie une grande partie du répertoire des concertos pour violon. Durant cette période, elle travaille également avec Anner Bijlsma qui lui donne des cours inoubliables sur la musique de Bach. Elle obtient son master à la Hanns Eisler Akademie de Berlin auprès d’Ulf Wallin. Rosanne clôt ces deux cursus cum laude.
